Selling my 50 BMG

1 Attachment(s)
Due to emergency house repairs I'm forced to part with my BOHICA 50 BMG. $2000 cash. FTF in Wisconsin (La Crosse area). Shipping to FFL for $50.

Here are some specs:

Bohica MKII 24" upper with upgraded MKIII brake
Rock River lower
Wolf heavy hammer spring
Extended bolt catch (to allow switching uppers between AR and BOHICA)
A2 stock filled with lead shot
Stainless steel magazine cut and filled with lead (lower alone weighs 8 pounds)
Burris extreme tactical rings (medium)
Bushnell Elite 3200 10x40 scope with tactical turrets and mildot reticle
Limbsaver recoil pad
Brownells 1/4" foam cheek pad (not shown in picture)
Guard Force hard case with wheels (airline rated - can hold two rifles)

Let me know if you have any questions.

PS - My first group at 300 yards was 1.75". I was just lucky I'm sure.

Sorry to hear you need to sell. That's a good price.

Who needs a gun dealer or a PM dealer when we have SLV around? I wish you didn't have to sell it, I like it and am going to scramble to see if I can raise some funds, but it probably won't happen. :stupido2:

I sooner go hooking than let that go. I'd sooner go hooking than to be without chewing gum. I'm gonna go turn a trick before bed.

Sorry about your anti-materiel baby, SLV.

Nice weapon. Good luck with the sale. Were you able to stock up on any ammo for it?

first group was at ......300ft or 300yds?

Re: Selling my 50 BMG

I didn't stock up on ammo, but I did stock up on brass. About 200 pieces, I think. I'll throw in the brass free of charge. THAT is a good deal.

First group was 300 yards after zeroing at 40 yards for drop. I have not duplicated a group that tight, but I haven't had the same calm conditions to do so.

Let me make a suggestion as an outsider. Feel free to ignore me!

I don't think we are facing any new gun control right now. Obama just doesn't hvae the votes. (I'm not saying it won't happen sometime down the road!) But the one exception might well be .50 BMG firearms. Especially if some yahoo uses one in a dramatic way. It would be easy for the media and Congress to drum up support for these "obviously unsuitable for hunting" types of firearms. So I wouldn't be _that_ surprised to see some restrictions on .50 BMG firearms in the next year.

But you are selling a .50 BMG AR upper. Not a firearm. Not needing any paperwork or any FFL to be involved. If I wanted to buy that rifle, I would ask you to break it into two pieces. Send the .50 BMG upper directly to me at my house. Then the AR lower to the FFL. He would record it as a receiver only with no caliber listed. So when the Feds started looking at the lists to see who owns a .50 BMG, I wouldn't make the list!

Just a suggestion!

Gregg

If it would shoot that group at 300 feet now THAT would be impressive. .50 bullets don't stabilize until well over 200 yards.

How is the ammmo sold??

By the box or the can??

What are the "normal" prices?

Absintheur 07-24-2009 01:51 PM

Re: Selling my 50 BMG

You can buy ammo buy the round, box of 10-20 or by the case. Right now expect to pay $2.50 to $3.00 per round for surplus in 100 round case lots and PMC is selling for $3.69 per round ($36.86 for a box of 10) Match ammo goes for around $7.00 a round.

Thanks, Gregg! I'd also sell the upper, weighted magazine, and brass for $1500 shipped directly to you without paperwork.

Would that include the scope and rings as well? If so that would be a heck of a deal on a paperless .50.

I'll include the scope and rings for an additional $200 - still a great deal.

His orignial post used the ( 300') marking i think we all assumed it was ment to be 300yds

I dont have a lot of experience with 50bmgs other than shooting one at some of our group shoots several times a year and then we are usually shooting at 1000yds so i had no clue it takes 200yds to stabalize a 50 bullett

learn something every day

Re: Selling my 50 BMG

The .50 is a whole different animal. I have very little experience myself, but have read quite a bit about it. Actually, my only experience is at 100 yards. It shot terrible groups. However, I've seen targets from that same rifle at 600 yards and they were impressive. It's exactly opposite of every gun I've shot before.

Re: Selling my 50 BMG

In my experience with .308 boattail bullets, they tend to "go to sleep" figuratively speaking out past 120-150 yards. And so a load that will group into .50 inch at 100 yards, will often shoot into .75 inches at 200. In other words, accuracy can increase at longer distance due to this effect. I would bet the same is true of the 50cal with boattails.

I forgot to mention that it also has a Magpul MIAD forged alluminum enhanced trigger guard and a Hogue rubber grip.
